In short

As an R&D Engineer, System, you will be responsible for completing assigned projects, including R&D, CIP, customized, PC projects, and JDPs. You will manage communication with various teams, provide engineering support, and ensure project quality and cost control. This role requires strong problem-solving, project management skills, and knowledge of system design and risk analysis techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the completion of assigned projects (R&D, CIP, Customized, PC project, JDP).
  • Communicate with Applications Team, Technical Support, Site Team, Product Manager, and global resources regarding new requirements and technical issues.
  • Provide engineering support for project-specific products like DP, Abatement, STP, CTIP, customized facilities, and equipment.
  • Act as the IC Contact window for technical issues with key customers, OEMs, and site teams.
  • Control project quality through design improvements, quality improvement, cost reduction, and enhanced functionality/reliability.
  • Support compliance with ISO 9001/14001/45001 and CNAS.
  • Specify sub-assemblies, perform electro-mechanical system integration, and conduct cost reduction/function improvement activities on existing assemblies.
  • Define Test Plans, conduct Risk Assessments, and control project costs.
  • Procure project-related materials, tools, and components.
  • Perform testing of equipment and subsystems, including reliability testing.
  • Write reports and assess project result uncertainty.
  • Prepare technical construction documents and create Bills of Materials.
  • Develop test specifications and select/integrate components.
  • Provide Field Evaluation Support.

Requirements

  • Strong problem-solving ability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Project management ability.
  • Ability to plan and estimate work duration within larger projects.
  • Understanding of key project deliverables and requirements.
  • Experience working in a system or equipment design/development environment preferred.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and basic FEA.
  • Understanding of piping and instrumentation diagrams and system schematics.
  • Experience with FMEA, HAZOP, DFMEA, and other design and risk analysis techniques.
  • Experience in the type testing of equipment.
  • Value engineering knowledge.
  • Hands-on ability to build test-rigs and develop testing plans.
  • Semi S2 Standard Knowledge is preferred.
  • Vacuum knowledge is needed.
  • Knowledge of Edwards Product is preferred.
  • Knowledge of appropriate EN/UL standards, Machinery Directive & Low voltage directive.

Desired Qualifications

  • CAD - Catia for 3D modelling and an element of design drafting would be very useful.
  • AutoCAD Electrical experience preferable.
