This Co-Op role is for a Spring Semester start in January 2027, located in Sherman, TX. The intern will support Quality, Assembly, and Engineering departments with tasks such as documentation, process improvements, and participating in Kaizen events. Ideal candidates are pursuing a Bachelor's degree and possess strong communication and analytical skills.
Responsibilities
- Work with Quality/Assembly/Engineering on daily tasks including writing work instructions, quality alerts, change requests, and tooling/fixture drawings.
- Update shop floor layouts and perform time studies.
- Document current and future state workflow and potential process improvements.
- Participate in kaizen events to eliminate waste and improve processes and assist with lean initiatives.
- Attend department, team, and project meetings.
- Collaborate with other engineers, teams, and departments to develop and implement solutions to safety, quality, and production challenges.
Requirements
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree program.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, analytical and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in PC skills including Microsoft Office.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Safety conscious.
- Self-motivated and disciplined with a hands-on approach to problem solving.
- Commitment to full-time (40 hour) Spring Co-op experience in Sherman, TX from January 2027-August 2027.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Desired Qualifications
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Industrial Engineering.
- Junior or senior class standing.
- Direct experience with AutoCAD and the development of drawings.
- Six months generalized work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- General Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
