Microsoft is seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead the Eventstream Kafka endpoint product area within the Azure Data engineering team. This role focuses on defining the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, driving customer engagement, and ensuring the technical success of Kafka-compatible solutions within Microsoft Fabric. The ideal candidate has strong technical depth in messaging and streaming technologies and product management expertise to enhance platform reliability and adoption.
Responsibilities
- Own the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and success measures for Eventstream's Kafka endpoint area.
- Lead the area from customer discovery through general availability and growth, making investment and prioritization decisions.
- Partner with Engineering, Design, Data Science, Security, and other teams to deliver a compelling Kafka-compatible solution.
- Develop a competitive strategy using customer insights, product telemetry, and market analysis.
- Build relationships with customers and partners, translate streaming requirements into product direction, and use previews and design partnerships to validate solutions.
- Drive adoption and business outcomes through product positioning, field readiness, technical storytelling, and go-to-market planning.
- Define AI-assisted experiences that make real-time data easier to connect, manage, and use.

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
- Must pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Desired Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience taking a product, service, or experience from strategy through launch and growth.
- Demonstrated experience owning a broad product area, including strategy, roadmap, delivery, competitive positioning, customer engagement, and business outcomes.
- Knowledge of Apache Kafka, Kafka-compatible protocols, Azure Event Hubs, messaging systems, or similar event-streaming technologies.
- Demonstrated technical depth in distributed systems, messaging, real-time ingestion, or stream processing, including the ability to navigate reliability, scale, latency, and interoperability tradeoffs with engineering teams.
- Experience using product telemetry, customer research, and market analysis to improve adoption, engagement, retention, or other product outcomes.
- Experience defining user experiences for technical products, including AI-assisted or low-code experiences.
- Communication and technical storytelling skills, with experience influencing senior stakeholders and aligning teams across organizational boundaries.
Benefits
- Typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $142,400 - CAD $257,500 per year.
