ABB is seeking a Material Planner in Xiamen, China, to manage end-to-end inventory planning, from purchase requisition to customer invoicing. The role involves setting inventory parameters, ensuring adequate replenishment, and collaborating with internal teams and suppliers to optimize performance and meet project delivery requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for end-to-end planning of inventory, including Sales in Excess of invoicing from purchase requisition to customer invoice.
  • Support internal customer service inquiries daily.
  • Set inventory parameters and targets.
  • Ensure adequate replenishment of inventory through purchase orders.
  • Define inventory policies based on specified segmentation.
  • Calculate and maintain inventory parameters (safety stock, reorder point, lot size, lead time, replenishment strategies) in planning systems and ERPs.
  • Coordinate material planning with call-offs to convert purchase requisitions into purchase orders in collaboration with operations buyers and services.
  • Collaborate with buyers to achieve the best possible supplier performance (on-time delivery, MOQ, quality, lead time, flexibility).
  • Develop material requirement forecasts based on business needs and production plans, guiding supplier capacity planning and inventory.
  • Determine material plans and procurement strategies, calculating material demand, safety stock, procurement modes, delivery, and distribution methods.
  • Manage material classification and inventory strategies, balancing supply security and inventory levels, and handling obsolete materials.
  • Identify and secure long-lead time materials in advance.
  • Address urgent material needs for project requirements and engineering design changes.
  • Identify shortage risks and adjust priorities for rapid response to meet project delivery requirements.
  • Agree with suppliers on terms for price discounts, capacity reservation, expedited delivery, change cancellations, packaging, labeling, and logistics.
  • Effectively monitor and manage supplier delivery performance, ensuring timely delivery and driving continuous improvement.
  • Conduct supply risk assessments and implement risk control measures, including developing alternative suppliers, inventory, capacity reservation, and material substitution.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in material planning, purchasing, sourcing, logistics.
  • Qualified in ERP material management module.
  • Immersed in material management in the distribution solution market.
  • Passionate about material management and supplier management.
  • At ease communicating in English.
  • Bachelor's degree or above.
  • 3 years or more of relevant work experience in material planning, purchasing, logistics, supply chain management.
  • Familiar with the supply market and lead times of major material categories for electrical equipment (e.g., protection relays, transformers, insulators, sheet metal, copper bars).
  • Familiar with ERP material management module.
  • Good data analysis and logical thinking skills.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Business communication ability in English.

Desired Qualifications

  • Contributing to the electrification, distribution solution, primary switchgear in Xiamen, China.
  • Main stakeholders are project manager, master planning, production planning, purchasing.
