Emerson is looking for a Lead Test Engineer in Hyderabad to validate next-generation automation controller product lines and IO modules. The role involves developing test strategies, designing test systems, and utilizing PLC programming and industrial communication protocols. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 5-8 years of relevant experience are required, with proficiency in Python and C#/C++ for test automation being essential.

Responsibilities

  • Validate next-generation Automation Controller product lines and IO modules.
  • Drive improvements in productivity and reduce test coverage without compromising quality.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to derive requirements for validation and verification plans.
  • Develop Test Strategy and derive Test Requirements from Product & System specifications.
  • Design optimal Test Systems and Automated Test Fixtures.
  • Utilize knowledge in PLC programming languages (Ladder, FBD, SFC) and scripting (Python).
  • Apply knowledge of industrial communication protocols (MODBUS TCP, PROFINET IO, EtherCAT, IEC61850, DNP3, IEC104).
  • Make technical presentations on architecture, design, and technical risks.
  • Work within product development lifecycle and exposure to waterfall & agile projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience with domain knowledge in Industrial automation and related products (PLCs, DCS, I/O modules).
  • Experience with Industrial Communication protocols like MODBUS TCP, PROFINET, ETHERCAT, IEC61850 Client and Server, IEC104 Client/Server, DNP3 Master/Slave, HMI/SCADA etc.
  • Programming skills using scripting languages like Python.
  • Test automation for Industrial control system and IO modules.
  • Basic experience with programming languages like C#, C++ for Test Automation purposes.

Desired Qualifications

  • Industrial Automation Knowledge and exposure in using Controller programming/HMI software is an added advantage.
