The Financial Analyst II will partner with Global Cash Accounting teams to support Amazon's payments infrastructure, focusing on AI-first automation and technology-driven solutions. Responsibilities include financial reporting, P&L analysis, forecasting, and end-to-end bank-to-GL reconciliation, leveraging SQL and Python for automation and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Cash accounting methods.
  • Perform financial reporting, monthly P&L analysis, financial forecasts, and ad-hoc financial modeling.
  • Facilitate monthly and quarterly business reviews with data-driven analysis.
  • Ensure accounting principles, internal controls, financial policies, and procedures are in place.
  • Own end-to-end Bank-to-GL reconciliation across multiple entities and currencies.
  • Perform root cause analysis on reconciling items.
  • Maintain and improve reconciliation control frameworks.
  • Partner with the Tech team on data quality standards.
  • Provide updates within and across business units regarding transition to new processes.
  • Coordinate with global accounting teams to establish communication channels.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UATs).
  • Offer and receive coaching, support, and guidance to the team.
  • Design and deploy AI/ML-powered workflows to automate accounting tasks.
  • Act as AI product owner for accounting automation initiatives.
  • Build and maintain intelligent reconciliation models.
  • Evaluate and scale AI-native finance tools.
  • Develop and maintain self-serve reporting dashboards and automated data pipelines.
  • Leverage SQL, Python, or low-code platforms to build analytical models.
  • Design financial models with real-time data feeds.
  • Work closely with auditors on audit-related queries.
  • Responsible for GRC compliance, internal controls, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Establish AI model governance standards for accounting automation.
  • Ensure all AI-assisted processes are explainable, auditable, and compliant.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • 4+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience
  • 4+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
  • 4+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
  • 4+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes experience
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent)

Desired Qualifications

  • 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools, LLMs, or automation platforms (e.g., Python scripting, RPA tools, or AI-assisted finance platforms) to independently own and deliver automation outcomes.
  • Experience operating in an AI-first finance environment — comfortable challenging manual processes, proposing automation solutions, and holding a strong bias for scalable, technology-driven controls.
  • Experience working with global, cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.
