Responsibilities

  • Apply financial acumen to analyze present and future financial performance of products, segments, and KPIs.
  • Assist in executing forward-looking analyses and support forecast cycles.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests for financial data analysis to support decision-making.
  • Understand and support processes through engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Propose recommendations for improvements to data collection and reporting methods.
  • Learn how advanced technology is leveraged in Finance at Microsoft.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, legal standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Embody Microsoft's culture and values.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field.
  • Must have at least 1 semester/term remaining following the completion of the internship.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel (pivot tables, Macros, VBA, etc.).

Desired Qualifications

  • Exposure to conducting analysis in tools such as Power BI/Tableau or other data visualization.
  • Exposure to SQL/R/Python or other programming/data science tools.
  • Understanding of fundamental finance and business acumen including data modeling, data analytics, FP&A, forecasting, interpreting financial statements, and reporting.
  • Experience incorporating AI into daily work to improve efficiency and quality.

Benefits

  • The base pay range for this internship is USD $4,690 - $8,350 per month.
  • Different pay range applicable to specific work locations (San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area): USD $6,330 - $9,490 per month.
