Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical subject matter expert for hands-on troubleshooting of critical infrastructure including generators, switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, and building automation systems.
  • Manage contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for operational issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Establish performance benchmarks and prepare comprehensive reports on facility infrastructure operations.
  • Collaborate with DCO managers, business leaders, and partners to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize safety, performance, reliability, and sustainability.
  • Support rack installation with proper power and cooling provisioning.
  • Implement preventative and corrective maintenance programs for critical infrastructure.
  • Develop metrics and dashboards for facility performance monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to achieve operational excellence and uptime targets.
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs, serving as technical escalation point for complex electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Execute rack installations, decommissioning, and facility modifications with proper power and cooling provisioning.
  • Monitor critical infrastructure through building automation systems, providing real-time operational readings and KPIs to maintain 99.999% uptime targets.
  • Manage on-site contractors ensuring compliance with safety practices.
  • Collaborate with DCO managers and field engineers on capacity planning and incident response.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of data center engineering or operations experience
  • 5+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel experience
  • Experience in vendor management
  • 5+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Electrical or mechanical Journeyman License
  • Knowledge of electrical systems in critical Data Center operations that include but are not limited to utility substation feeds, transformers, switchgear, VFI Class UPS, DRUPS, PDUs, ATS, STS, SLA/VRLA batteries and associated systems, diesel/gas turbine generators and related fuel systems, Surge Suppression, Active Harmonic Filtering, battery monitoring systems, branch circuit monitoring systems or SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems in critical Data Center operations including but not limited to CRAC/CRAHs/AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, storage tanks, chemical systems, heat exchangers, piping systems, pumps, valves, duct systems, fans, or dampers
