CNC Setup Technician responsible for setting up and adjusting CNC equipment, performing basic part inspections, and routine maintenance. This role requires a motivated individual who can lead by example, support production flow, and troubleshoot issues, while also being able to transition into an operator role as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and adjust machine tools on CNC equipment.
  • Perform basic part inspection using hard gauges and measurement tools.
  • Conduct routine 6S and part quality inspection using a CMM.
  • Change broken/worn tools and perform minor preventive maintenance.
  • Interpret CMM reports and make CNC program offsets for shift/drift or tool length/wear compensation.
  • Make CNC program changes.
  • Serve as the supervisor's right-hand partner on the shop floor.
  • Provide leadership, support production flow, and drive accountability.
  • Set the standard for attendance, safety, quality, and work ethic.
  • Help remove production barriers, improve communication, and support employee development.
  • Promote a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Seamlessly transition into an operator role whenever setup duties are not required.
  • Lead by example, remain actively engaged in daily production, and contribute wherever needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must adhere to expectations of a job setter
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on CNC setup experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification to operate powered industrial equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
  • Proven shop math skills and computer literate
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMM reports).
  • Ability to change tools, touch off tools, and home out the machine to ensure accurate setup.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on resolving operator issues quickly and effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to provide training and clear instructions to operators.
  • Legal Authorization to work in the United States – sponsorship will not be provided for this role
