In short

Emerson is looking for a Buyer in Tianjin, China to implement purchasing strategies, negotiate with suppliers, and manage inventory using MRP logic. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree, 3+ years of purchasing experience, and strong communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Implement purchasing for critical/difficult/complicated raw materials.
  • Follow, maintain and optimize the purchase process.
  • Review and negotiate costs/contracts/lead-time/payment terms with suppliers.
  • Work with MPS/planner to manage delivery of purchase orders, monitor and avoid out stock and over inventory.
  • Communicate forecast with suppliers and monitor supplier stock.
  • Advise on part shortages and arrivals based on MRP system and supplier promises.
  • Manage RTV goods, coordinate replacements, rework, and debit notes.
  • Follow up inbound logistics and importing compliance.
  • Follow up payments against goods receiving and resolve urgent payments.
  • Discuss defective goods or services with suppliers and take corrective action.
  • Update and maintain data in I-supply and Oracle system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical areas.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a ‘buyer’ in purchasing related roles.
  • Good Negotiation skills; Good sense to balance payment terms, price, delivery lead time etc.
  • Familiar with MRP logic, materials planning, inventory management and purchase process.
  • Able to communicate successfully in English in both written and oral form.

Desired Qualifications

  • APICS-CPIM is preferred
