Autoliv is seeking an Application Engineer to support seatbelt product development and validation. The role involves collaborating with customers and global teams to ensure compliance with requirements and standards, while driving product quality and manufacturability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to multiple projects, customer, and development related for seatbelt product line.
  • Develop and validate seatbelt products.
  • Lead, execute, and support various project activities during technical phases of awarded programs.
  • Collaborate with CFT team members, interface with OEMs, internal supporting groups, manufacturing facilities, and suppliers.
  • Design and validate seatbelt products and components to ensure compliance with customer requirements, regulatory standards, and Autoliv engineering specifications.
  • Collaborate directly with customers to balance styling expectations with Autoliv’s standard design practices, manufacturing capabilities, and cost objectives.
  • Coordinate with global engineering teams to support the localization, validation, and successful launch of global programs.
  • Analyze customer specifications and translate technical requirements into robust product designs, ensuring all validation activities are completed according to program timelines.
  • Drive product development activities to achieve Right First Time (1P1P) objectives by optimizing design quality, manufacturability, performance, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced English proficiency with strong verbal and written communication skills; willingness to support regional teams across Mexico and the United States.
  • Experience in seatbelt/restraint systems, product design, product engineering, interior Class A components, and trim development within the automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD design, GD&T application, tolerance stack-up analysis, and interpretation of CAE results to support product development and validation activities.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including die casting, RIM, injection molding, stamping, and assembly operations.
  • Hands-on problem-solving, product teardown analysis, and a commitment to long-term professional development.
