In short

Qualcomm is looking for an enthusiastic Analog Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer to join their team in Cambridge, UK, focusing on data converters (ADC/DAC) for next-generation IoT products. The role involves designing innovative circuits from architecture to production, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and potentially mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design of data converters (ADCs and DACs) for IoT products.
  • Development of test-level interfaces and general analogue circuits.
  • Circuit design for radio transceivers, including RF, baseband, and PLLs, with an emphasis on low power design.
  • Responsibility for the entire design lifecycle from architecture to final delivery.
  • Innovation of new techniques to meet challenging circuit requirements.
  • Collaboration with layout engineers on floor planning and layout optimization.
  • Working closely with the Radio system team to define system requirements.
  • Involvement with cell characterization and ensuring the design meets system requirements through to production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of ASIC design experience.
  • Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of ASIC design experience.
  • PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of ASIC design experience.
  • Ideally 5+ years of industrial experience in analogue/RF IC design with ADC and DAC experience for a Staff level position.
  • Solid understanding of analogue/RF circuit design fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in analogue design and verification using Cadence tools.
  • Proven track record of delivering circuit designs with minimal supervision (required for Staff level).
  • Familiarity with system requirements for wireless standards like WLAN, BT, LTE.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment (spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators).

Desired Qualifications

  • Additional experience in PLL, VCO, PA, LNA, Mixer, Filter, crystal oscillator is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of taking a design from specification through to production is desirable.
  • A solid background in data converter architectures, circuit design and verification, is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Verilog-AMS modelling, MATLAB and Python is a bonus.
  • The role is also open for recent graduates with a relevant PhD depending upon specialization.
  • Enthusiastic about analogue circuit design.
  • Enjoy being part of a team developing advanced low power transceiver solutions through to production.
  • Ability to work with teams in multi-disciplines to deliver solutions, often with aggressive deadlines.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to work on next-generation IoT products.
  • Be part of an innovative design team.
  • Work with advanced low power transceiver solutions.
  • Potential for growth and development within Qualcomm.
