Atlas Copco Group is seeking an AI Engineer to spearhead AI-driven solutions within their Power Tools Distribution Center in Bilzen-Hoeselt, Belgium. This hybrid role involves identifying, developing, and implementing AI/ML models to enhance operational efficiency, working closely with various departments and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, propose, and prioritize AI and automation opportunities across Distribution Center processes.
  • Coordinate and support AI startup initiatives and pilot projects.
  • Translate business needs into AI use cases with clear value, KPIs, and efficiency gains.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy AI / machine learning models.
  • Implement AI solutions focused on speed, efficiency, and quality.
  • Integrate AI solutions with existing IT systems, data platforms, and dashboards.
  • Work closely with DC teams to understand processes and ensure solutions are practical and scalable.
  • Act as AI point of contact and support change management.
  • Ensure data quality, availability, and proper usage for AI applications.
  • Monitor model performance, retrain models, and continuously improve solutions.
  • Document solutions, standards, and best practices.
  • Define and roll out standards and governance for AI-assisted work.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, or Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Software, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning, data analytics, and AI concepts.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to identify business challenges and opportunities, and translate them into scalable AI solutions with measurable business impact.
  • Proactive, structured, and able to work independently.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Hands-on mentality with a continuous improvement mindset.

Desired Qualifications

  • First experience with AI / machine learning implementation in an industrial, logistics, or operational environment is a strong plus.
  • Experience working in or with distribution centers, manufacturing, or supply chain is an advantage.
  • Experience coordinating projects across multiple departments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with data pipelines, databases, and visualization tools (e.g. Power BI is a plus).
  • Experience with cloud platforms or industrial AI tools is an advantage.
